Information Sent Through Search Forms
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Sacramento County Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those search terms on its own servers. If you contact the operators, the message and any details in it are available to the operators for the purpose of replying and handling the request.
Routine Technical Information
Hosting systems may record ordinary server data such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps. This information can be reviewed in aggregate to maintain the pages and understand broad use. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics or, where enabled, advertising measurement.
How Operational Data Is Used
Operational data is used to run the reference, diagnose faults, measure traffic, and improve content. Visitor lists are not sold, and the operators do not build individual profiles from ordinary use of these pages.
Links to Custodian and Search Services
The pages link to county and state portals, court systems, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Once a link is opened, the destination's privacy policy controls what is submitted there. Sponsored search results are supplied by a third party and are governed by that provider's practices.
Who Processes Technical Data
Hosting and support providers may process server logs on behalf of the operators. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above when those services are enabled. Information may also be disclosed when valid legal process requires it.
Security Practices
The reference is served over an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only while the operational purpose requires them. There are no user accounts here, so the service does not hold a site password or profile that can be exposed.
Children Under 18
The pages are intended for adults and are not directed to children. The operators do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If a parent or guardian believes that a minor sent information, contact the operators so the matter can be reviewed and the information deleted when appropriate.
California Data Rights
Depending on the person's circumstances, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, Civil Code section 1798.100 and following, may provide rights to know, correct, delete, opt out of sale or sharing, limit sensitive-data use, and avoid discrimination. Because this reference retains little direct personal data, a request generally involves checking the contact mailbox and available server logs. Use the Contact page to make a request.
Public records held by California, Sacramento County, or city offices are outside the operators' control. The California Public Records Act, Government Code sections 7920.000 through 7931.000, governs access to identifiable public records held by those custodians. Requests to remove or correct an official record must go to the office that maintains it, not to this reference.
Changes to This Policy
A revised policy will be posted here with its updated wording. Continued use after a change indicates acceptance of the revised policy to the extent permitted by law.
